Due to their chemical structure, polyitaconates seamlessly replace polyacrylates, styrene, and other chemicals in a variety of applications. Polyitaconates are the building blocks of Itaconix TSI (Threshold Scale Inhibition) 322 and 422—ingredients which outshine the industry standard in automatic dishwashing detergents. 

Replacing polyacrylates, however, is just the beginning. Itaconix TSI ingredients also do the work of common detergent additives, rendering these fossil-based chemicals unnecessary.  

Scale Inhibition & Dispersion

TSI effectively prevents scale buildup in dishwashers and laundry machines, offsetting the effects of hard water and extending the life of machines by binding to and neutralizing scale crystals. Thanks to TSI, formulators can ditch polyphosphates and other potentially harmful chemicals.

Chelation 

TSI binds to calcium and magnesium in water, preventing these ions from developing soap scum and other issues. No need for phosphates or other chelating agents—formulators can remove these additives entirely when using TSI. 

When using TSI 322 and 422 instead of acrylates and additives, formulators can remove as much as 50% of the material in their original formulation, and replace it with less than half that amount in TSI. The end result? A high-performing, compact dose that can do more with less product.
